How to Dress for GNC 2024

If you’ve never attended a conference before, you may wonder how to appropriately dress for it. The following information is offered to help you prepare in an effort to increase your comfortability while maintaining professionalism with the faculty and industry professionals in attendance.

All conference attendees should plan on dressing in business casual. Examples include bottoms like khaki pants or slacks, blouses, polos, a nice-looking sweater, or even a button down shirt without a tie. No jeans and no sneakers.

All students presenting a poster should plan on dressing in business casual.

Student participants who are giving an oral presentation in addition to the poster presentation should plan on wearing business professional. Examples include button-down shirts with a tie, a blazer or suit, professional looking dresses, skirts, or even dress slacks paired with a blouse and/or blazer.

DO NOT feel like you must run out and buy something brand new to meet any dress codes. Ask a classmate or friend to borrow something that would work and fits you well. USF students are encouraged to make use of the Suit-a-Bull resource on campus. Students on other campuses are encouraged to connect with the Career Center/Office to see if a similar resource is available.

For more specific information on business attire, see the linked: "Guide to Business Attire."
